As the corona virus continue to manifest in Nigeria, particularly i Lagos, the Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba has directed all criminal courts in the state not to grant remand orders detaining suspects in correctional facilities, except in serious high crime cases of terrorism, murder or armed robbery.
According to a circular issued by the Chief Judge on Monday, the directive is in tandem with the command of the Inspector General of Police to all police formations that policemen should not detain accused persons in their cells except in cases of these high crimes.

Justice Alogba further ordered that all criminal cases in Magistrate courts should be handled at the headquarters of each magisterial division. See the directive below:
