For the next seven days starting from Thursday, Lagos State will close markets, banks, offices, and bars, eateries and other public places, according to a new directive of Lagos State government.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu rising from a security meeting told newsmen that the state is in dire straits due to the corona virus pandemic.
Therefore, the state is to discourage travels to Lagos, both by road and by air. Gathering of people have further been reduced from 50 to 25.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this after a meeting of the State Security Council at the State House, Marina Tuesday evening.
The Governor who insisted that the order was not a lockdown however said that this new directive will be for seven days in the first instance, after which it will be reviewed.
Sanwo-Olu who said that the health situation was dire said all public parks, gym, swimming pools etc are also to close with immediate effect.
He said that the security agents had have been ordered to strictly enforce the directive as anyone who contravenes it will be dealt with.
