Lockdown: Tragedy as vigilante member kills mate

Tragedy struck at Abule Alagbado, a suburb community in Lagos State on April 14, 2020 as a vigilante member accidentally shot  another member in the course of protecting their community from bandits that have terrorized the area during the lockdown due to COVID19.

For over a week, residents of communities like Alagbado, Ijaiye, Meiran, Abule-Egba, Alimosho, and Ipaja had formed vigilante groups as community shield against nototious groups such as the one million boys, and awawa boys that have terrorized Lagos mainland, looting shops, and robbing people at their homes.

In response, the people formed vigilante groups, burning tyres and keep vigil from street to street.

Nuru Adebari and his children

Nuru Adebari simply called Nero and Baba Koko are among the vigilante group of Abule Alagbado. On the 14th of April 14 night, they were all on duty until around 4am of  April 15 when Nuru entered his house. He came out again to urunate in the frontage.

As he was urinating, Baba Koko put on his torch light, focused on Nuru, and shouted: “Who is there? Before he could open his mouth to answer, Baba Koko had opened fire  from his gun, shooting Nuru in the stomach.

 

Nuru died on the spot. The case was reported at Alakuko Police Division. The DPO confirmed the incident, she said the case has been transferred to state CID Panti, Yaba.

Mr Nuru was tailor but has no shop. His wife, Kehinde said Nuru was trying to work to gather money to rent shop . “He makes a living by helping people that comes to buy floor tiles at Masalasi bus stop carry tiles so that he can make money to keep me and his son happy”.

She call on the authority not to put this case under carpet so that justice can prevail.
