Eight COVID-19 deaths were reported on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 across Nigeria even as 184 persons tested positive across the country. Total cases now stands at 4971, while recoveries stands at 1070, while cases of death stands at 164.
The latest figures on the pandemic was made known on the Twitter handle of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
According to the NCDC, Lagos State accounted for 51 of the 184 cases on Wednesday, while Jigawa, Bauchi, Katsina, Kano and Rivers States had 23, 16, 16, 14, 10 and 10 cases respectively.
Kwara State had nine cases, Delta and Kaduna State five each and Sokoto and Oyo States four each.
Kebbi, Nasarawa and Osun States had three infections each, with Ondo State with two and Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Anambra, Plateau and Niger States all having one each.
There was also an increase in the number of deaths, with eight patients losing their lives on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Lagos State discharged 26 more patients of the Coronavirus Disease in its isolation centres.
This was disclosed by the COVID-19 Incident Commander and Governor of the State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday.
Sanwo-Olu said: “Today, 26 COVID19Lagos patients; 13 males and 13 females, all Nigerians were discharged from our Yaba, Onikan and Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation facilities to reunite with the society.
“The patients, 6 from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 11 from Onikan and 9 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged having fully recovered and tested negative to COVID-19 in two consecutive readings.
“With this, the number of #COVID19 confirmed cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos is now 528.”
