President Muhamadu Buhari of Nigeria on Tuesday suspended the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s main anti-corruption agency, Mr Ibrahim Magu, according to BBC Hausa service.

Magu’s suspension comes a day after he was grilled by an inter-agency presidential panel on allegations of corruption.

Although both the Directorate of State Services (DSS) and EFCC denied his arrest, Magu was placed in detention overnight at the FCID headquarters, Abuja.

There are indications that the suspended anti-graft boss may be charged to court for corruption before the end of the week.
