A gas plant exploded around Iju Hills, Ajuwon on Thursday afternoon, leading to an unspecified number of deaths and casualties.

A loud bang that shook the entire area was heard around 3:30 p.m afternoon as thick smoke permeated the whole environment. The accident reportedly happened at Cele Bus Stop, along Grailand, Ajuwon.

The Director General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Dr Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident on his twitter account. “The Agency has activated its response plan to the fire incident at Cele Bus Stop, Ifako-Ijaiye LGA and will provide further updates. Lagosians are urged to kindly exercise calm. Dr Osanyintolu Al’s confirmed that several persons wounded have been taken to the hospital.
