Ebonyi PDP Chairman flays court order of suspension

The recently sacked chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Monday expressed disappointment over his purported sack by a Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja.

Nwebonyi made this known in Abuja while Fielding questions from newsmen.

While advancing his arguments over the sack, Nwebonyi said he was never served with any court process by any bailiff and was not aware of the pendency of any suit before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

He said “it is unfortunate that people can come behind a party and get a fraudulent judgment suspending me as chairman.

“I got to read about my suspension via a motion on notice by an applicant via social media.

“The point is, i was never served any process, all I know is that I and other PDP executive filed a lawsuit against the caretaker committee led by Fred Udeogu at both the Federal High Court Abakaliki and the State High Court.

“We have done filings, exchanged processes, argued cases, and have got adjournment for ruling only for them in their bid to prove the impossibility obtain this order against me.

“This order cannot stand because it was obtained in error.”

Recall that a Federal Justice Inyang Ekwo had earlier granted an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the sacked chairman of Ebonyi PDP, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and five others from parading as members of the state executives committee.

Granting the order in Suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/1609/2020, between Hon. Fred Udeogu and 11 others V Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi (for himself and as representing members of the dissolved Ebonyi State PDP Executive Committee) and five others.

The presiding Judge, Justice Ekwo, also restrained the defendants from using the PDP state secretariat in Ebonyi or any of its property still in their custody.

The Court equally ordered the Police and INEC to desist from giving any form of recognition whatsoever from all the restrained parties.

The matter has further been adjourned to February 4, 2021 for the hearing of the substantive suit.
