Ibadan, Sept. 30, 2024 (TheGavel) – A 22-year-old man, Emmanuel Alade, was arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday for his alleged involvement in a N9,747,050 fraud. Alade faces charges of conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution, led by ASP Anthony Igori, informed the court that Alade allegedly committed the offences between January and July in the Badeku area of Ibadan. According to the prosecution, Alade unlawfully hacked into the private online account of a recharge card network company known as ‘Yafun Yafun.’
The prosecutor revealed that the defendant accessed the company’s platform and illegally obtained MTN, Glo, and Airtel recharge cards, in addition to misappropriating network data valued at N9,747,050.
The charges brought against Alade violate Sections 517 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which pertain to conspiracy and theft.
During the court proceedings, Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like amount. The case was adjourned until November 26 for further hearing.(NAN)
