Ibadan, Nigeria (TheGavel) – A 22-year-old man, Ibrahim Abubakar, was arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday, September 27, 2024, on charges of illegal house entering, stealing, and malicious damage of property. The defendant is accused of stealing wires worth two million Naira from a residence in the Idi Obi area of Ibadan.
According to the prosecution, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, Abubakar entered Oluwalusi Oladele’s house on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 9:00 PM and proceeded to steal the wires. He was apprehended while still inside the house, attempting to remove the wires from the ceiling. In the process, he damaged some of the wires.
The charges against Abubakar, which contravene Sections 412, 390(9), and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, carry a potential prison sentence of up to seven years if found guilty.
Magistrate Mrs. Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted Abubakar bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until November 4, 2024, for a substantive hearing. (NAN)
