Ikeja NBA Caretaker Committee commence work

The Caretaker Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch on Wednesday commences work, calling on all members of the branch to direct all communications meant for the branch to it.

On June 23, 2020, the national body of the NBA, under the leadership of the President, Mr Paul Usoro SAN constituted a three man committee under the leadership of a former chairman of the branch, Mr Bisi Ade-Ademuwagun, to look after the affairs of the branch, and conduct elections into executive offices of the branch. Other members of the committee include two past chairmen, Mr Monday Ubani, and Mr Adebamigbe Omole. The committee has a three month period to conclude its work.

A press release issued by the committee early Wednesday morning reads:

“As you are aware that on the 23rd day of June, 2020 the National body of our Association constituted a Caretaker Committee comprising of Bisi Ade-Ademuwagun Esq., Adebamigbe Omole Esq., and Monday Ubani Esq., to handle the affairs of the Branch, in line with Article 11 of the Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches for a period of three (3) months and conduct elections for the Branch;

We wish to inform members of the Branch that the committee has swung into action with a meeting held on Tuesday 30th June, 2020 with some of the immediate past Executive members of the Branch to facilitate the commencement of the committee’s job today Wednesday 1st July, 2020;

We wish to inform all members of the Branch that the Caretaker committee has commenced work in earnest; the Committee therefore implores the Branch members henceforth to direct all communication meant for the Branch to the Committee;

The Committee also solicits the cooperation of all members of the Branch as it is poised to work assiduously towards realizing the purpose for which it is set up especially conducting a free, fair and credible election, which will usher in a new Executive for the Branch;

The Committee hereby appeal to all members of the Branch to kindly assist her by putting an end to all social media war as such wars are not in the best interest of the Branch”.
