The caretaker committee of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Ikeja branch on Monday explained that the monthly meeting of the branch could not hold today because the immediate past executive council of the branch is yet to handover properly to them.
NBA Ikeja branch statutorily holds its monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month. The national body of the association under the President, Mr Paul Usoro SAN had constituted the Mr Bisi Ade-Ademuwagun led caretaker committee on June 23, 2020 at the expiration of the tenure of the Mr Dele Oloke led executive of the association.
However, in a press release, the caretaker committee members said that the last executive is yet to handover the affairs of the association, including monies, receipts, cheque books and other properties of the association.
The statement was signed by the members of the committee, Ademuwagun, Monday Ubani, and Adebamigbe Omole.
The statement reads: “The Caretaker Committee wish to apologise to all members of the Branch for the inability to hold the monthly meeting of the Branch today 6th July, 2020;
It is a fact that a meeting took place between the Committee and some of the immediate past Executive members of the Branch on Tuesday 30th June, 2020, the Committee commenced the running of the affairs of the Branch on Wednesday 1st July, 2020, however Section 19 (3) of the Uniform Bye Laws avails the past Executive Committee SEVEN (7) days within which to handover all records, monies, receipt, cheque books and any other property of the Branch in their possession to the Committee;
The Caretaker Committee also wish to inform our members that as soon as the handing over is properly done, members will be duly notified when June 2020 monthly meeting of the Association will take place;
We appreciate your understanding in this regard”.
