Banks, Insurance, Financial Institutions employees to join NLC strike

The National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) has directed all its members to comply fully with the directive of the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to down tools come September 28, 2020 over government increase in the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff.

In a letter dated September 22, 2020, and signed by its secretary, Mohammed L. Sheikh, the union enjoined all members to comply totally with the directive of NLC.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has vowed to proceed with its planned strike and protest with effect from September 28 following the failure of the Federal Government to reverse the hike in electricity tariff and fuel price.

Rising from its National Executive Council meeting in Abuja a few minutes ago, the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said the proposed action by the organised labour would proceed from next week.
