Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Professor Muhammed Isah, Thursday charged judicial officials to key into the anti-corruption crusade of the government.
According to the helmsman, judicial officials should key into the initiative to enhance the campaign by promoting the culture of public morality in the discharge of their duties.
Isah gave the charge at the opening ceremony of a one-day workshop on ‘Strict Compliance with Assets Declaration and Code of Conduct for Public Officials.
The workshop which took place at the National Judicial Council Conference Hall in Abuja was facilitated by Go-Getters Consulting Limited,
Isah who was represented by Professor Samuel Ogundare, highlighted the need for morality in public office, adding that “public morality has a connection with economic progression”.
He said, “30 years ago when the CCB was created, the level of corruption in public service today was not anticipated.
“The Assets declaration is a critical code in public office and the workshop will acquaint the participants with the basic knowledge of assets declaration and the punishment of flouting the code,”
Also speaking, Secretary to the Council, Ahmed Gambo Saleh, said the workshop was not only timely but essential for public servants.
“I feel every public servant needs to have adequate knowledge about asset declaration and this workshop will provide us with the etiquette as public servants.” he said,
