Six Airforce officers have been reported dead the Nigerian Airforce King Air 350 plane crash that occured just before the runaway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, FCT.
The military aircraft crash landed after reporting engine failure enroute Minna.
Confirming the mishap, Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika said the crash appeared to be fatal. “We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any,” he said.
A statement by the Nigerian Airforce gave the names of the officers who died in the crash as Flt. Lt. Gazama, Flt. Lt. Piyo, Flg. Offr. Okpara, FS Olawumi, and ACM Johnson.
The statement reads:
“A Nigerian Air Force NAF201 a B350 aircraft departed Abuja at 1033UTC with 6 persons on board including 2 crew. ”Aircraft reported engine failure at time 1039 and crashed landed on the final approach path of Abuja Runway 22 at time 1048UTC. Fire services are already at the scene of the accident. All 6 persons on board reported dead”.
