TheGavel: Chinedu Matthew, a 36-year-old man, was arraigned in the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday, facing charges of felony and theft related to the alleged stealing of a mini-bus.
The charges, presented by Prosecutor ASP Clement Okuoimose, stem from an incident on August 9 at around 11:30 p.m. at Ayetoro bus stop, Ijanikin, Lagos. The prosecutor alleges that Matthew, along with others, conspired to steal a mini-bus belonging to Ambrose Agweven.
Matthew has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which violate Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Chief Magistrate Mr. A. J. Aina granted bail to Matthew in the amount of N300,000, requiring two sureties in the same sum. One surety must be a community leader with at least two years of tax clearance.
The case has been adjourned until September 19 for further mention. (NAN)
