5 Individuals Arraigned for Alleged Impersonation and Possession of Charms

The police in Ibadan arraigned five individuals before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for allegedly disguising as ladies to defraud people.

The defendants, Jimba Hassan (23), Jamiu Adepoju (30), Abbey Kareem (40), Olayiwola Ibrahim (35), and Tiamiyu Soliudeen, are facing charges of conspiracy, impersonation, and unlawful possession of charms. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Prosecutor Insp Olufemi Omilana informed the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 27 at 5:20 p.m. in the Sasa area of Ibadan. He alleged that the defendants, who are all male, disguised themselves as ladies with the intent to defraud people, and were found in possession of charms.

Omilana stated that these actions contravened Sections 516, 484, and 213 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Mrs Gladys Oladele granted bail to each defendant in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum, specifying that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendants.

The case was adjourned till December 4 for mention. (NAN)
