Court remands prophet in prison for sodomy

Justice Abiola Soladoye of Sexual Offences  and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja Lagos on Tuesday ordered remand of a clergyman, Seyi Adelana in a correctional facility for allegedly sodomising two teenage boys (name withheld).

The judge ordered the prophet to be remanded after he was arraigned on two count charges brought against him by the State Government for allegedly assaulting sexually the two boys whose ages 17 and 18 years.

The state counsel, Mrs Arinola Momoh-Ayokanbi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in June 2018 to January 2019 in his residence at  No. 11, Itumaro Street, Igbobo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant lured the boys with cash gifts before sexually assault them, by having anal sex with them.

According to the counsel, ” the defendant sexually assaulted the first complainant, an 18-year-old makeup artist, from June to November 2018. And the second complainant, a 17-year-old trader was sexually assaulted from November 2018 to January 2019.”

She further told court that it was the second complainant that told his mother what happend which led to the arrest of the defendant.

His offence was contrary to Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015.

Following his plea of  not guilty to the charge, Justice Soladoye ordered that the defendant be remanded at a correctional center and subsequently adjourned trial to April 22, 2020.
