An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday remanded one 45-year-old, Sunday Olanrewaju, in a correctional facility in Ibadan over an alleged unlawful possession of firearms.
Olanrewaju, whose address was not provided and others at large were charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.
Adebola directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 6, for mention.
The prosecutor, Insp. Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 5, at about 11.00 a.m. at Ife-Ibadan Express way.
Oladoyin said the defendant unlawfully possessed one round of live cartridge with the intent to commit felony.
She said the offences contravened Sections 6 (b) and 3 of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004. (NAN)
