Farmer Arraigned for Alleged Intimidation and Mischief

TheGavel: A 50-year-old farmer, Bello Abubakar, was arraigned before a Gwagwalada Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for alleged criminal intimidation and mischief.

The Police charged Abubakar, a resident of Killankwa II, Kwali, Abuja, with criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation, and mischief.

According to the prosecutor, Dabo Yakubu, the complainant, Mr. Ishaku Sunday, reported the matter at Area 1 police station on July 9. Yakubu alleged that Abubakar, along with two others now at large, trespassed into the complainant’s already cultivated farmland. When confronted, Abubakar threatened to harm the complainant if he spoke about the farmland again.

During police investigation, Abubakar failed to provide a satisfactory account of his actions. The prosecutor stated that the offense contravened sections 97,342,335 and 397 of the penal code.

Magistrate Olatunji Olaadunmoye granted Abubakar bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum, with the condition that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. The case was adjourned until September 10 for hearing. (NAN)
