Ibadan, Aug. 30, 2024 (TheGavel) — The Oyo State Government has vowed to track down those responsible for the recent attack on residents of Gbepakan Village in Saki West Local Government Area.
In a statement on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Sulaimon Olarenwaju, emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Reports indicate that approximately 10 villagers were killed by unidentified attackers who invaded the community on Tuesday night.
Olanrewaju revealed that the state’s acting governor, Mr. Bayo Lawal, led a government delegation to the village on Thursday for an assessment visit. During the visit, Lawal expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured them that the government would leave no stone unturned in apprehending those responsible.
Lawal also pledged to provide the necessary support to security agencies to aid in their investigation and reaffirmed the Makinde administration’s dedication to protecting lives and property across the state.
“The government is committed to ensuring that no community within Oyo State is left vulnerable to criminal activities, regardless of ethnicity or religion,” Lawal stated.
He further promised that the needs of the injured would be addressed through the provision of essential materials and support.
“We will not allow crime to establish a foothold in any part of the state,” Lawal added. “The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayodele Sonubi, has already visited the area to assess the situation. We are determined to uncover the truth behind this heinous act, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
