Uyo, September 17, 2024(TheGavel) – Mr. Bashar Hussaini has officially taken over as the 16th Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akwa Ibom State. The appointment follows the redeployment of Mr. Eluyemi Eluwade to the corps’ national headquarters in Abuja.
Mr. Friday Ekerete, the Command Public Relations Officer, announced the new commandant’s assumption of duty in a statement released in Uyo. Hussaini brings with him a wealth of experience in the NSCDC, having served in various commands across Nigeria.
A holder of a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Hussaini’s career in law enforcement dates back to 1990 when he joined the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency as a member of the Cadet Officer Course 1. He subsequently transferred his services to the NSCDC in 2009.
Known for his discipline and expertise, Hussaini has a proven track record in undercover operations, counter-terrorism, intelligence, and investigations. His appointment comes at a crucial time for Akwa Ibom State, as the NSCDC continues to play a vital role in ensuring the security and safety of the state’s citizens.
Hussaini has reiterated his commitment to addressing economic sabotage and public assets vandalism in the state. He has pledged to work closely with the Akwa Ibom Government and other security agencies to protect public infrastructure and maintain law and order.
