Ibadan Magistrates’ Court Remands Two for Alleged Murder

Ibadan, Oct. 15, 2024 (TheGavel) — An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has remanded two individuals, Adeyinka Olodude (21) and Raphael Babatunde (22), in custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 24-year-old man, Sulaiman Olayinka.

The defendants, whose residential addresses were not provided, face charges of conspiracy and murder. Magistrate Gladys Oladele, presiding over the case, declined to take their pleas due to lack of jurisdiction. She ordered that the case file be sent to the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further legal advice.

The magistrate then adjourned the case to Dec. 10 for mention.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi, the incident occurred on Oct. 3 at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the Ologuneru area of Ibadan. Owolabi informed the court that the defendants, along with others who are still at large, conspired to fatally stab the victim, Olayinka, in the chest with a knife.

The charges against Olodude and Babatunde fall under Sections 516 and 316 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, which address conspiracy and murder.

The case remains under investigation as authorities seek further legal direction from the DPP.(NAN)
