Unemployed Man Charged for Allegedly Stealing School Roofing Sheet

Kaduna, Oct. 15, 2024 (TheGavel) — Haruna Abdullahi, a 28-year-old unemployed man, was arraigned on Tuesday before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for allegedly stealing a zinc roofing sheet from L.E.A Primary School in Kigo.

ASP Luka Sadau, the prosecutor, stated that the complaint was filed by Malam Ado Musa, a security guard at the school, on October 4 at the Sabon Gari Police Station. According to Sadau, Abdullahi was apprehended while attempting to sell the roofing sheet to an unidentified scavenger.

Furthermore, Sadau mentioned that the complainant also accused Abdullahi of suspicion regarding the theft of classroom chairs, tables, and a whiteboard from the school.

While the defendant pleaded guilty to stealing the roofing sheet, he denied involvement in the theft of the classroom items.

Judge Malam Anas Khalifa granted bail to Abdullahi on the condition that he presents a reliable surety. Khalifa also instructed the prosecutor to present witnesses regarding the additional allegations by October 22. (NAN)
