In what appears as a major political shake-up, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, may before the end of the week resign from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and move to Accord Party.

Sources indicate that the governor may no longer contest the 2026 governorship election under the PDP, raising questions about his next political move and the future of the party in Osun State. His resignation from PDP according to sources may not be unconnected with the crisis of leadership within the party which may lead to litigations at the end of the day. The fear is that the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike may eventually destroy PDP.

Sources further revealed that Adeleke considered moving to ADC but considered Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor and presently the Secretary of the party who already is grooming another person to contest for the post of governor.

Close aides of the governor are expecting a tough contest with Chief Iyiola Omisore of All Progressives Congress(APC) if the latter eventually wins the APC primaries. Omisore still has to contend with the Minister of Blue Economy and former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola who is allegedly interested in coming back for a second term.
