Last week, I had to travel to Lagos because of some urgent assignment.I decided not to take my personal car because of some minor repairs which I had instructed my mechanic to fix.I dropped the car key with my neighbor with the instructions to give the key to the mechanic when he arrives so that he can take the car to his workshop for the repair.
I was away for a week and I was later informed that he returned the car back to my compound the same day he picked it which was the same day I traveled.I returned a week later , which was a Saturday .Early Sunday morning when I tried to open the car with the remote control ,it did not open and there was no sound .I therefore concluded that the car battery must have gotten flat.I found my way to church that day.
.Due to some urgent matters I needed to attend to ,on Monday and Tuesday,I didn’t call the mechanic.i found my way to the place where I needed to be.When I returned on Tuesday evening ,I then called the mechanic and he informed me that the battery couldn’t have been flat as he disconnected it after he parked the car earlier.
I told him all the doors were locked and asked him how I was expected to open the door.He said I should insert the key on the driver’s door.Could you believe that I have been driving this car for almost ten years and I can’t remember opening it with a key?
I did as he said and opened the car and reconnected the battery and the car jerked back to life as I started it.
This was a very apt lesson for me on the importance of knowing and enjoying the full benefits of any gadget you acquire.”And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’. JOHN 8 :32
The Mechanic told me the “truth ” about the car and I used the information and It profited me.I had the wrong assumption that the battery was flat and it wasn’t.What are the wrong information in our hearts that we have accepted as truth ?May God deliver us from wrong assumptions and help us to know the truth.
Someone needed a certified true copy of a document from a government office and he was informed that it will cost a particular amount which he paid.It was only after it has been processed and collected that he learnt from a more senior official in the government establishment that he learnt that the document should have been given to him free if he knew the legitimate channel to make his demand .The junior staff played on his ignorance.
It is said that most of the phones we are using is not also fully utilized.
If I had called the mechanic immediately I discovered that the car did not start I wouldn’t have had the issue of not taking the car out from Sunday to Tuesday.
What are those areas of our lives that we are working in darkness and we are not aware of the provision God has already provided for us ? May the Holy Spirit grant us the knowledge and light to access them
The price of ignorance is greater than many people realise. It often result in lost opportunities, poor decisions, manipulations and exploitations, fear and prejudice, poverty and stagnation and regret.
Socrates, the great philosopher recognises that wisdom begins with recognizing what one does not know.
Ignorance, itself is not a sin as every human being came into the world not knowing. The greater tragedy is not learning when wisdom knowledge and understanding are available.May we not go through life being ignorant of the provisions available for us.Ignorance truly limits us .May God grant us all a teachable spirit and the grace to truly know the truth.
