The Charity Ladies Club Umutu (CLC), a humanitarian organization in Umutu Kingdom, Delta State, has appealed to individuals, indigenes in Nigeria and the diaspora, corporate organizations and friends of the community to support its 2026 children’s Christmas party.
The annual event, scheduled for December 27, 2026, in Umutu, is themed, “Put a Smile on the Face of a Child.”
According to the organizers, the initiative is aimed at bringing joy and relief to children and families affected by the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
The club said early donations and partnerships would enable it to extend the outreach to more vulnerable children and provide a more impactful programme.
Under the leadership of its president, Laureta Erhabor, the organization has, over the years, supported children and families through cash donations, scholarships, food distribution, empowerment programmes and educational assistance.
The club has also recognized community builders and pioneer members as part of efforts to promote community service and solidarity.
Beyond its annual Christmas programme, the organization said it had sponsored youths for skills acquisition, supported educational initiatives and provided assistance to elderly women in Umutu.
Speaking on the initiative, the club’s spokesperson, Ugo Michaels, said the programme was part of the organization’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“This is our own way of reaching back to lift others. We believe every child deserves happiness, encouragement and hope for a brighter future, especially during the Christmas season. Together, we can make a meaningful difference,” she said.
Michaels said the organization was also expanding its empowerment activities to identify and develop the creative abilities of young people, while encouraging them to pursue academic excellence and productive careers.
She appealed for financial contributions, food items, gifts and sponsorship to support this year’s outreach.
The club said contributions, regardless of their size, would help provide assistance to children and families who may otherwise be unable to celebrate the Christmas season adequately.
Further information on donations and partnerships, it said, could be obtained through the organization’s official social media platforms and those of its members.
The Charity Ladies Club Umutu said the Christmas programme was part of its broader commitment to promoting compassion, community solidarity and support for vulnerable members of the society.
