A pregnant woman, Jamila Mohammed, and seven other residents abducted by bandits in Kaduna State have regained their freedom following coordinated security operations.
The victims were rescued between October 31 and November 2, 2026, through a joint operation involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the military.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, disclosed the development during a press conference at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna on Tuesday, November 3.
Rabiu said the operation formed part of sustained efforts by security agencies to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks responsible for repeated kidnappings in Millennium City and neighbouring communities.
The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, 27, wife of Abdulkadir Bello; Talatu Yakubu, 40; Yunana Bawa, 30; Calista Bishop, 27; Chidinma Onuwere, 36; Eucharia Obi, 41; Godiya Victor, 50; and eight-year-old Miracle Alex.
Jamila was abducted on October 6 when bandits attacked Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area.
She was kidnapped alongside Ahmad Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter.
The latest rescue comes weeks after security operatives freed Zakka and members of his family on October 15.
The police commissioner attributed the successive breakthroughs to the collaboration among the participating security agencies.
He acknowledged the strategic coordination provided by ONSA, the operational support of the police, the intelligence-driven interventions of the DSS and the military’s involvement.
Rabiu also commended the Kaduna State Government, under Governor Uba Sani, for supporting the operations.
He said the achievements were consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security.
The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and actionable information about suspected kidnappers and bandits, assuring them that all intelligence received would be treated confidentially.
He also called on traditional rulers and community leaders to support ongoing security efforts.
Rabiu further appealed to media organisations to avoid circulating unverified information that could compromise security operations or create unnecessary panic.
The rescue operation highlights the role of collaboration among security agencies in efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security challenges in Kaduna State.
