Akwa Ibom Student Receives N1.5m Award for Excellent SSCE Performance

Uyo, Akwa Ibom (TheGavel) – Master Emmanuel Zekhome, a student of Topfaith Schools in Mkpatak, Essien Udim Local Government Area, has received a cash prize of N1.5 million for his outstanding performance in the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Dr. Emmanuel Abraham, Chairman of Topfaith Schools, presented the award to Zekhome, citing his “brilliant and outstanding” performance. The top scholar award aims to encourage hard work, academic discipline, and mental development.

Out of 193 students who sat for the SSCE, 40 achieved higher grades, with three students scoring ‘A’ in eight subjects and nine students scoring ‘A’ in seven subjects. Abraham emphasized the importance of hard work, stating, “Academic success is never a miracle, it comes out of painstaking and intentional efforts by teachers, parents, and students.”

He urged parents and guardians to instill discipline and a spirit of hard work in their children, adding, “Every success has an input to be made. Every success also has a reward. No success comes without hard work.”
