Anambra Government Seals APGA Faction Secretariat Led by Edozie Njoku
Awka, August 27, 2024 (TheGavel) — The Anambra State government has sealed the secretariat of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faction loyal to Mr. Edozie Njoku.
Mr. Tony Ezekwelu, Deputy National Chairman for the South East of the party, accused the APGA-led government of attempting to intimidate their faction. Ezekwelu reported that, while members were conducting routine business and distributing forms for upcoming local government elections, a team from the Anambra Housing Development Corporation arrived around 10:00 a.m. and sealed the office.
Ezekwelu stated, “The officials informed us that the closure was due to an order from above, citing that the property was originally designated for residential use and had been repurposed as a party secretariat. We have used this space for party activities for some time, and we are not the property owners.”
He added that the Njoku faction, which moved into the building two months ago, was not given any prior eviction notice. “We believe this action is politically motivated to intimidate us. Despite this, we chose not to obstruct them and remained compliant,” Ezekwelu said. “This act is an attempt at intimidation and suppression. However, the Njoku faction remains the most authentic, and we are open to accommodating others.”
In response, Governor Chukwuma Soludo characterized the conflict within APGA as a minor family issue that will be resolved soon. “Under our leadership, APGA is stronger than ever,” Soludo commented. “What you see in the media is normal during election periods. There may be claims of different national chairmen, but this is essentially a family problem that will be sorted out. Soon, everyone will come together, and there will be no division within APGA.”
