Operatives of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service have arrested four men involved in theft of cable and vehicle vandalization.
According to the State Vigilante Service, the suspects arrested include Godspower Chidiben, (m) 27 years from Abia state, Chukwuemeka Steven (m) 24years from Anambra state, Ebitubina Tonye (m) 27 years from Ekeremor, Bayelsa State, and their gang leader, Jack Rotanna (m) 27 years from Anambra state.
The suspects were arrested midnight of Tuesday along Edepie mechanic village axis of Yenagoa, the state capital after being caught with electric wires from a burgled car at the area.
They were arrested through the help of local vigilantes stationed at the mechanic village who spotted their gang leader Jack Rotanna with bag full of vandalised cables and immediately called the state vigilante service.
Upon interrogation, he confessed that the cables were stolen from a car and mentioned his gang members and they were all arrested and confessed to being involved in most cases of car vandalization and theft in the state capital.
The chairman of the Bayelsa Vigilante Service. Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who confirmed the development disclosed that one of the suspect has been on the wanted list of the vigilante outfit over criminal acts and stealing.
He further explained that, the suspects are allegedly specialist in car battery theft and burglary.
Alagba also said they have been handed over to Ekeki Division of the Nigerian police force, Bayelsa State Command for further investigation.
