The trial of Yoruba self determination activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho continues today(Friday) before a Beninoise Court.
The Yoruba activist and his wife are on trial for the illegal possession of a Beninoise passport. They were allegedly on transit to Germany when they were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport.
He was allegedly returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic after the hearing on Thursday.
The Cour D’Appel De Cotonou adjourned the case till Friday, July 23, 2021
After Thursday’s hearing, Ìgbòho’s lawyer, explained that “this is not the best time to say anything on the case”. He however expressed optimism that things would turn out for good.
Recall that the DSS on February 26, 2021, had attempted to arrest Igboho along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the activist and his supporters were on their way to meet with the 93-year-old Afenifere chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo, but pandemonium broke out and the DSS was unable to arrest him.
