Binance selects former First Bank Chairman, Ibukun Awosika on Global Advisory Board.

Ibukun Awosika, Former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria and the first woman to head that position, has joined the advisory board of the world’s largest Cryptocurrency exchange, Binance.

Binance’s new Global Advisory Board which comprises of distinguished experts in public policy, government, finance, economics, and corporate governance, is aimed at managing and providing advice for Binance on some of the most urgent regulatory and political concerns the general Crypto, Blockchain and Web3 industry now deals with, due to the current surge in growth being experienced.

The Global Advisory Board, recently convened in Paris, France, where Binance founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao said,

“For the past five years, Binance has been at the forefront of pioneering the exciting new world of crypto, blockchain, and Web3. In that time, we’ve tackled complex issues no one even knew existed. We’ve maintained our focus throughout on delivering compliance solutions that protect the interests of crypto users while keeping a brisk pace of socially-beneficial innovation. The GAB represents the next big step forward in our journey to share the benefits of modern finance and the blockchain with the world.”

Binance seeks to utilize the GAB’s unrivalled collective experience and expertise to benefit the sustainable development of the industry as a whole, and further encourage nations to take the initiative and embrace an economic future in which cryptocurrencies and blockchain will play a significant role, as can be gleaned from a report which read:

“We are aware that licenses and rules will necessitate much discussion and negotiation, but the trend is clear—more and more nations want to establish a promising future.”

Speaking about her selection, Awosika noted,

Prior to joining Binance’s Global Advisory Board, Ibukun served as First Female Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria in 2015; Founder, The Chair Centre Group; Chairman, Nigerian Advisory Board, for Impact Investing and Convention on Business Integrity; Member G7 International Task Force for impact investing.

Awosika is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative and the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She is the co-founder and former chair of the Board of Trustees of Women in Management, Business, and Public Service. She is also a Nigerian Billionaire, Businesswoman and author with several books to her credit.

The Global Advisory Board that Awosika now serves on, is chaired by former US Senator and Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Max Baucus, and has other advisors including: Hyung-Rin Bang, advisor of the Korea Presidential Committee; Bruno Bézard, managing partner at Cathay Capital, former economic advisor to the French Prime Minister and ex-head of the French Treasury; Henrique de Campos Meirelles, former president of the Central Bank of Brazil; Leslie Maasdorp, the chief financial officer of the New Development Bank; Adalberto Palma, former senior advisor to the President of Mexico; Christin Schäfer, founder of ACS Plus; Ed Vaizey, a member of the UK House of Lords; David Wright, chair of Eurofi.
