Tragedy struck yesterday evening as a BRT bus crushed three pedestrians, one man and two girls to death at the Alfa Nla junction, Agege, Lagos.

Malam Gafaru, popularly called Alberto, his junior sister and her friend were sent to go and buy biscuits for Zakat(alms giving) for Ramadan. Muslims faithfuls are enjoined to give alms to the poor according to their worth towards the end of Ramadan. The three young people were on the errand when they met their untimely death.

Eyewitnesses said that they were on a  motorcycle when they were crushed by a BRT bus. The two girls died on spot, but Gafaru was rushed to a local clinic hospital called Abiba on Morcas road but he was rejected. He however gave up the ghost before they could get him to another hospital.

The BRT with registration number AAA26XB has since been moved to an unknown destination. Angry youths had damaged almost all screens.

When this reporter visited the Morcas cemetery on Monday afternoon, preparations were on for the burial of the deceased. The bus driver was also undergoing interrogation at the  Isokoko Police station at Agege.

Family and sympathizers were seen gathering in preparation for the burial at Moricas cemetery.
