President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday afternoon administered the oath of office on Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The event took place at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa.
The 62-year-old Ariwoola takes over from the outgone CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, and he is expected to serve in an acting capacity till further confirmation by the Senate.
It would be recalled that Justice Muhammad resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria on Sunday night, citing ill-health as the reason for his decision.
