Okitipupa, Ondo State, Aug. 29, 2024 (NAN) — David Akinjomo, a 24-year-old carpenter, appeared in Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, facing charges of burglary and theft. Akinjomo is accused of breaking into three separate apartments and stealing items valued at N293,000.
The charges against Akinjomo include three counts related to burglary and theft. According to Police Prosecutor ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, the alleged incidents took place on June 30 at No. 14, Majemu St., Okitipupa, Ondo State, at around 2:00 p.m.
Prosecutor Orogbemi detailed that Akinjomo allegedly stole N167,000 from Mr. John Omosekeji’s apartment, N20,000 and a pair of shoes worth N6,000 from Mr. Sunday Akpobim’s residence, and N100,000 from Mr. Deji Adeboyeje’s home. The total value of the stolen goods amounts to N293,000.
The prosecution asserts that these actions violate Sections 390 (9) and 411 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006. Akinjomo has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Philip Akinlosetu granted Akinjomo bail set at N400,000, requiring one surety in a similar amount. The surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of two years of tax payments to the state government.
The case has been adjourned to September 12 for further hearing.
