A Federal Capital Territory High Court at the weekend ordered the Inspector General of Police to bring to court for prosecution, Regina Okolie, on or before Tuesday August 31,2021.
In the alternative, the court ordered the police to grant her bail in N2 million bond and a surety that must be a level 12 officer in the civil service.
The 21 year old girl has been in detention of the IRT for over 70 days and was reportedly subjected to very degrading and inhuman conditions. She was allegedly arrested by the Police in Owerri while on her way to write JAMB examination.
After more than 70 days in police custody, a police spokesperson in a statement said Okolie was an IPOB member who uses her deceptive looks as a cover to run errands for IPOB.
Justice S.C Oriji, the vacation judge of the FCT court gave the orders sequel to a motion exe parte brought by the applicant and argued by her lawyer, Ihensekhein Samuel(jnr).
Justice Oriji directed the police to file charges against Okolie on or before August 31, 2021 or grant her bail. He also said that the Chief Judge of the court will assign the case after vacation.
Joined as defendants with the Nigerian Police Force in the suit are the Inspector General of Police, Commander, IRT, DCP Tunde Disu, and the Attorney General of the Federation.
