Court remands handyman for stealing  ”Fila” sneakers

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos, on Friday remanded a 24-year-old handyman, Paul Kofi, for allegedlly stealing two bundles of Fila sneakers worth N1 million.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Otitoju ordered the remand  until July 12 for review of facts of the case and sentencing.

The defendant whose house address was not provided, had pleaded guilty to conspiracy and thegt.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Kofi and some others at large, committed the offence at No 21, Olajuwon st., off Ojuelegba Road.Yaba Lagos.

Ekhueorohan submitted that while Kofi was employed to fix the POP (Plaster Of Paris) in the building, he conspired with some others to steal two bundles of Fila sneakers worth N1 million.

He added that the stolen property belonged to Zealluck Resource Nigeria Ltd.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years imprisonment for stealing, while Section 411 carries two years imprisonment for offenders.
