A Sharia Court in Kano State on Tuesday remanded a 45-year-old businessman, Sani Ado, for allegedly assaulting and intimidating his neighbour.
Ado, who lives at Sheka Gabas, in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, is charged with criminal intentional hurt and intimidation.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, ordered that Ado should be remanded in the corrections centre in Kano.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 10, for further mention.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Ummi Musa who also resides in Sheka Gabas, reported the matter at the Sheka Police Station on Aug.15.
Wada said that the complainant had a misunderstanding with the defendant.
He said that the defendant beat her up and called her unprintable names..
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 158 of the Penal Code.
