An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Friday, ordered the remand of a poultry worker, Samson Ediga, at the correctional centre, over alleged stealing of eggs worth N2.5 million, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He pleaded guilty to the first count charge of conduct likely to breach peace, but pleaded not guilty to the second count of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, consequently. ordered his remand at the Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan, until March 17, for review of facts.
The court held that bail could not be granted to the defendant on the second count, until review of facts is taken on the first count.
The prosecutor, ASP Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 11, at Lawooyin village in Ibadan, at about 10.55 a.m.
Adegbenro alleged that the defendant stole eggs and animal feeds worth N2.5 million, belonging to his employer, one Mr Lucky Igberaese.
He alleged that the defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 249(D) and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
