An Oyo State High Court on Wednesday restrained the Attorney General of the Federation(AGF), Abubakar Malami SAN, and the Department of State Services (DSS), from arresting Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho.
According to the order granted by Justice Ladiran Akintola, DSS is restrained from arresting, intimidating, harassing and blocking Sunday Igboho’s bank account.
The order was sequel to an ex-parte motion moved by the counsel to Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliu (SAN), at the court on Wednesday, just as the court adjourned further hearing on the case till August 18.
Yomi Aliu said: “The court has ordered that he must not be arrested, detained, killed in the next 14 days. The court also said that his account should not be blocked.”
Some operatives of the DSS and other security agents had, early June, raided the Soka, Ibadan home of Sunday Igboho, killing two of his aides and arresting 12 others during the operation.
His house and several property were badly damaged during the bloody night raid carried out by the security operatives.
Igboho was subsequently declared wanted by the Federal Government, having been accused of allegedly stockpiling arms and ammunition in his house.
The Yoruba Nation agitation is currently facing trial in neighbouring Republic of Benin after being arrested for allegedly entering the country with an invalid passport.
