The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye at the weekend ascribed the limited effect of Covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria to the prayers of the people to God, assuring that the country will not witness the third wave of the virus that is currently ravaging several other countries.
The world has been in the grip of Covid-19 since early last year with the predictions that Nigeria, and indeed Africa will be the epicentre of the ravaging pandemic. However, the country did not witness such a disaster as predicted. Rather, the effect of the pandemic was limited compared to other parts of the world that witnessed, and continue to witness massive deaths.
Pastor Adeboye who ministered at the month of May Holy Ghost service of the church said that the limited effect of the disease on Nigeria and other African countries is due to the effect of prayers of the people.
He said:”Let no one deceive you. We did not witness what the world expected because of prayers. Let me thank those that responded to my call for prayers against the pandemic. The Lord answered our prayers. I will be calling on you again very soon to pray against another kind of problem that is ravaging our country”.
Pastor Adeboye attended the service in the company of his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye. Both had earlier in the week lost their son, Pastor Dare Adeboye, who died in Eket, Akwa Ibom state last Sunday.
Reacting to the loss, the General Overseer said that “In all things let’s learn to say thank You Father and it is well”.
He said further: “Whatever we have is given to us by God, be it wealth, wife, husband, children, and if it got taken away by God, all we can do is give God glory for actually given us the privilege to enjoy those wealth or kids temporary and is not for us to complain, blame and question God. God took away Ezekiel’s wife and asked him not to mourn over her (EZEKIEL 24 VS 16). What we see as sorrows might be joy in the sight of God, I mean His ways and thoughts are not the same with ours. We shouldn’t forget that both good and bad happens at God’s command (LAMENTATIONS 3 vs 38).
Finally in all things let’s learn to say thank You Father and IT IS WELL..God bless all of you in Jesus name”.
Mrs Adeboye also anchored the prayer for Nigeria. “The season we are in now calls for a lot of prayer, the country is under a siege and we want God to liberate the nation even as we connect to other nations. We believe that through our prayers for Nigeria God will let it reach other nations going through any form of siege”, she said.
Meanwhile, the Adeboye family has announced burial rites for the late Pastor Dare. In a statement by Adeboye’s Personal Assistant, Leke said the funeral rites will be held at the RCCG convention centre at Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The statement reads partly: “With our hearts full of gratitude, we appreciate you, for standing by our family, in this period of trial. We are consoled, no doubt, by the fact that our beloved son has returned home, to rest in the bosom to his maker and father;
“Our confident assurance is rooted in the life of selflessness and sacrifice our son lived for Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Thank you so much for your prayers and words of encouragement. Our prayer is that we will all make it to that glorious home, in Jesus mighty name.”
The funeral rites begin today Sunday, May 9, with a special service at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom where the deceased was the pastor.
Thanksgiving songs and tribute will be held on Monday, May 10, between 4 pm and 6 pm at RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, while the Farewell service will hold on Tuesday, May 11 at the Youth Centre, RCCG Redemption Camp.
One of the people that has sent condolence messages to the Adeboyes is Pastor TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of all Nations(SCOAN).
“God does not need our permit; God’s time is the best,” Joshua stated in a live service broadcast on Friday on his Emmanuel TV.
“It is not how long we live that matters but how well we live,” he continued in the short condolence message also uploaded to his social media accounts. We pray that the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, will strengthen the family and the ministry. Let us observe a moment of silence in remembrance of Pastor Dare Adeboye,” Joshua concluded.
