South South Defence Correspondents Forum Hails Ajayi’s Appointment as DSS Chief
**Port Harcourt, Aug. 29, 2024 (TheGavel)** — The South South Defence Correspondents Forum (SSDCF) has expressed strong support for the appointment of Mr. Adeola Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, the forum’s President, Comrade Jimitota Onoyume, and Secretary, Mr. Desmond Ejibas, praised the appointment. They described Ajayi as a “round peg in a round hole,” highlighting his extensive experience and past successes in enhancing security across several states.
President Bola Tinubu announced Ajayi’s appointment, along with Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA), on Monday.
The SSDCF commended Ajayi for his effective leadership and intelligence-gathering skills, noting his significant contributions in securing Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi states. They believe Ajayi’s expertise will bolster Nigeria’s security framework and support national economic development.
The forum emphasized Ajayi’s past achievements in Rivers State, where he played a key role in reducing militancy and kidnapping, including the successful operation that led to the arrest of Don Wani, a notorious kidnapper and terrorist.
The SSDCF congratulated Ajayi on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to tackle security challenges nationwide and enhance the nation’s safety and stability.
