DSS confirms pre-dawn invasion of Sunday Igboho’s house

Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS), on Thursday night, confirmed that a combined team of security operatives carried out a pre-dawn attack on the residence of Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The DSS paraded 12 men and a woman arrested after a fierce battle at Igboho’s house. The operatives recovered a cache of arms and also took the suspects to Abuja while Igboho escaped.

According to DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunnaya, the operation was carried out by a combined security operatives, suggesting that both the police and army were involved in the raid.

He said three Igboho men were gunned down, others were arrested. One operative wounded and receiving medical attention. The combined team however were not able to arrest Igboho as he escaped. Afunnaya confirmed that the arms seized in the house confirmed that Igboho is well armed and capable of breaching public order.
