Benin, October 2, 2024(TheGavel) – The Edo State House of Assembly has announced the recall of two suspended lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after a five-month suspension.

In May 2024, the assembly suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) over allegations of plotting to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers. While Iyamu was recalled in June due to his expressed remorse, Okogbe and Isibor remained suspended.

During the resumption of plenary in Benin on Wednesday, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced that the assembly had decided to recall the remaining two lawmakers. He also congratulated the newly elected Edo State governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the recent gubernatorial election.

Agbebaku emphasized that the governor-elect was for all Edo people, not just the All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed concerns about sycophants potentially misleading him. He welcomed the lawmakers back from their extended recess and thanked them for their diligent work in passing impactful bills and resolutions.
