Abuja, Sept. 30, 2024 (TheGavel) – As Nigeria prepares to mark its 64th Independence Day, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The appeal comes as part of the command’s efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
In a statement released on Monday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, urged citizens to be proactive in maintaining security during the national event. She emphasized the importance of community participation in preventing potential threats and reminded residents of the command’s emergency contact numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653. These numbers are available for the public to report any suspicious or unusual activities in their surroundings.
To ensure a smooth celebration, SP Adeh confirmed that the police command has strategically deployed adequate personnel and resources across the FCT. The deployment includes Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) units, anti-riot teams, and visibility policing to maintain order and security during the Independence Day activities.
“Traffic diversions will also be in effect in key areas expected to draw large crowds, such as the Central Area and Eagle Square,” Adeh stated, highlighting the command’s traffic management plans for the day.
The FCT police have reassured the public of their commitment to a hitch-free celebration, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities. (NAN)
