There are indications that one of the prosecution witnesses in the Federal Government’s case against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central may actually be a fugitive who ran away to the United States of America to avoid the arms of the law in Nigeria.

The witness, Mrs Sandra Duru, also known as Prof Mgbeke on social media is one of the witnesses listed in the case. The suspended Senator has been at loggerheads with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio whom she accused of sexual harassment. Mrs Duru has been attacking Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan on social media, claiming that her allegations against Senator Akpabio were lies.

However, recent court papers showed that Mrs Duru, in Charge A/06/16 was charged to court on a three count charge of  “obtaining by false pretense, fraudulently obtaining N10 million form one Edith Adefunke Edidot, and threat to life”.

The charges read:

Due to her failure to answer to the charges, a Chief Magistrate Court at Tinubu issued a warrant of arrest against her which ordered the police to arrest her anywhere she was seen. The warrant was signed by Chief Magistrate Kemi Ayeye on August 3, 2017.

Rather that appearing in court, Mrs Duru was alleged to have gone to the US where she currently lives.

Mrs Duru has however denied that she is not a fugitive. She took to her Facebook page on the early morning on June 14, 2025 where she stated:

“I am not a fugitive. I am not in hiding. In fact, no one is looking for me anywhere. I move with the law, in truth, and with divine backing”.

She also confirmed the criminal charge against her thus: “As for the mummy Edidot drama, yes, that happened in 2014/2015. People intervened, and I let it slide. But there was never any business deal, fraud, or shady transactions. I repeat for the hearing-impaired: there was no fraud. And let’s be real, after what went down, I doubt mama would ever want to offend me or my kids again in this life or the next;

I challenge her to show receipts. I demanded for the REFUND of our kids school fees and I withdrew them from her school immediately and we disconnected from her”.

Mrs Duru however confirmed that her name is on the Prosecutor Witness list of the Federal Government and vowed to handle it brilliantly well. “I am on that list and i will handle it brilliantly well and there’s nothing your chocho and noisemakers can do about it!”, she concluded.
