A band of alleged Fulani herdsmen numbering about 30 on Tuesday night invaded Ayetoro-Ekiti, in Ido-Osi Local government and kidnapped three persons in a hotel in the community.

The invasion, according to reports, started at about 10.30pm, when they attacked a hotel in the town and abducted three persons. The herdsmen allegedly entered the town through the route where a traditional ruler, the Elewu of Ewu-Ekiti was shot sometime in April this year.

A resident in the town, Peter Okito told newsmen that the herdsmen who were fully armed to teeth, shot sporadically to the air and in the process, a staff of the Hotel simply identified as Idowu was shot on his soldier and kidnapped alongside three others.

Otiko claimed that his brother, Sunday who guards the hotel received machete wounds severally on his head from the herdsmen and is now in critical condition at the Federal Health Institution in the Area.

Police Public Relations officer in the State, Sunday Abutu when contacted said he has not received brief on the development.

He added that he would get back to our correspondent once he contacted the divisional headquarters in the area.

Also, Commander Amotekun Security Corps, in Ekiti State, Brig. Joe Komolafe (rtd.) said he could not confirm if it was Fulani herdsmen that actually carried out the invasion, adding that it was a case of hoodlum’s attack.

He explained that a distress call came in to him on Tuesday Night and he immediately deployed his men to the place around 10:30 pm but the bandits had left the scene before his men could arrive in the town.

Komolafe further explained that the security guard at the Hotel received a cutlass wound, while a lady was raped but said he could not confirm if anyone was abducted.
