The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) on Friday told the congregation of the church that “God has not told him yet that there’s going to be an election next year”.

The 2023 Nigerian elections is scheduled to hold in large part, on February 25, and March 11, 2023. The President and Vice President is expected to be elected on  February 25. Additionally, there will also be elections on the same day for the Senate and the House of Representatives. On March, twenty-eight gubernatorial elections will be held alongside elections to state houses of assembly in all 36 states. Two additional gubernatorial elections will be held later in the year alongside potential rerun elections for regularly scheduled elections annulled from earlier in the year.

However speaking in the November Holy Ghost service, Pastor Adeboye said “Daddy is yet to tell me that elections will hold next year”. The revered man of God said things are getting “funnier and funnier in Nigeria”, adding that anyone who does not learn to laugh in the country can develop hypertension”.

Pastor Adeboye made allusions to the state of the nation’s currency saying that “naira is no longer worth the paper on which it is printed and yet leaders want to redesign it and make it more beautiful”.

The man of God therefore called on the congregation to join him in a six days prayers and fasting to call on God to heal the country. According to him, the fasting starts from November 26- December 2, 2022. Members of the Church are expected to gather in all their churches nationwide at 6pm each day for one hour prayers. On December 2, members of the Church are expected to gather at the Redemption Camp headquarters of the Church to conclude the prayers.
