He was threat to Biafra struggle, says retired police officer’s suspected killer
Chukwudi Emerenin, 27, has claimed Chris Kpatuma, retired Officer in Charge, Legal Unit, Delta Police Command, was murdered because he was perceived as a threat to the Biafra struggle.
Kpatuma was killed on February 1, 2022, at his residence in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
Emerenin, according to Ari Mohammed Ali, state Commissioner of Police, was arrested after operatives swooped on his gang in their hideout in Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state.
He disclosed that the suspect is an escapee from Owerri prison and a relative to the late police officer.
“He (the suspect) also stated that he is related to the late police officer and that the leader of the gang is called l’Mega Bush.
“The suspect confessed that the late officer was killed because he was a retired police officer, and they saw him as a threat to their Biafra struggle.
“The suspect, Chukwudi Emerenin is also suspected to be part of the syndicate that beheaded a vigilante member in Owerri and used his head as a ball some time ago,” the Police commissioner said.
