Justice Gbolagunte of Oyo State Judiciary is dead

A Judge of the Oyo State Judiciary, Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte is dead. He died on Monday June 24, 2024 at a hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State after a brief illness. He was 65 years old.
His death was confirmed by his eldest son, Oladiran Gbolagunte who issued a statement announcing the death of his father. Oladiran confirmed that his father, who until his death served in the Oyo State High Court, passed on during a brief illness in a hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to the statement, Justice Gbolagunte was born on December 10, 1959. He attended the University of Lagos where he studied Mass Communication. He worked as a journalist before venturing again to study law at the University of Ibadan. After his law degree, he lectured at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State; Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos, and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria(FRCN) Training School, Lagos where he taught law and law related courses.
He left behind his wife, Wuraola; son, Oladiran, a Digital Technologist with specialisation in Network Communications; a daughter, Oladoyin, a lawyer and an accountant; and another son, Oladotun, also a lawyer. He was also blessed with four grandchildren.
Amongst the first callers to his residence on condolence visit is the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Subulade Yerima. She was received by the wife, Wuraola, Mr Dotun Olasupo, Publisher, Eagle Online News, and other member of the family.
Late Justice Gbolagunte is a scion of the Gbolagunte family of Eruwa, Oyo State. His father, Chief Davidson Mokolade Gbolagunte was a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly in the defunct Second Republic. He played a huge role in the citing of a campus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan in Eruwa, his hometown.
A condolence register has since been opened at the home of the Gbolaguntes and at the headquarters of the Oyo State Judiciary in Ibadan.
